Spring Sprints 2025 Preview

When the 2024 racing season ended on September 29, I was weary. Between August 10 and September 29 we were on-track for eleven days over four weekends. We raced in two countries and three states and towed the race car nearly 5000 miles. Along the way we installed a temporary passenger seat for picnic rides, moved the fuel pump, rearranged the float bowl lids, and had the engine out twice for clutch repairs. 2024 was great fun, with a humbling array of honors and achievements for the car, and I was READY FOR A BREAK:

Now here we are in May and I’m rested up and excited to get back to the track, into the car, see some of my buddies, and welcome a new driver, Evan, to our merry band of Sprite and Midget racers.

This off-season wasn’t quite as packed with race car projects as the last. I was busy for a while, but for the first time since I started racing, the car was pretty much ready to go a few weeks ago.

#12 is loaded up and the trailer just needs a bit of final packing. We go to the track Thursday afternoon to setup. The forecast for this weekend looks pretty good, actually: Likely overnight rain Friday night/Saturday morning, but it’s trending toward dry all three days.

Between Evan getting started with us and our friends Brian and Laurie from the Midwest attending driver’s school in Connecticut this weekend so they can race with us on the west coast later this year, and of course, getting #12 back on track, this is looking to be a great weekend.
